In Normandy, on the eastern tip of the Cotentin Peninsula, a pretty maritime town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site...

Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue reveals itself.

Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue also means exploring the foreshore to Tatihou Island. Here, the sensory magic between sea and desert, carried by the celestial world, promises you a complete change of scenery... and yet only 2km separates you from the mainland.

On Tatihou Island, an exceptional cultural heritage and well-preserved nature blend together. Dominated by its Vauban Tower, which above all makes the island a major historical treasure of the Cotentin, don't miss its museum and botanical garden.

Near Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, just 15km away, lies the charming port of Barfleur. With its picturesque appearance, this very pretty port, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France, seduces with the austere beauty of its architecture.

Finally, unmissable places in the history of the Normandy landings, such as Sainte-Mère l'Eglise and Utah Beach, are absolutely worth seeing.

The Vauban Fort of La Hougue

1 and 2 km from the hotel are the two UNESCO-listed Vauban towers. They were built according to Vauban's plans following a terrible naval battle in the bay of Saint Vaast. One is on the island of Tatihou and the other on the peninsula seen in the photo, less than a kilometer from Saint Vaast... it's also a lovely walk.

Come visit Tatihou Island, a 1.5km walk at low tide amidst the oyster beds, or a 5-minute boat ride at high tide. Its Vauban Tower (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), music festival, botanical garden, maritime museum, and birdlife make it a wild and timeless space. It's the most enjoyable family outing in the Cotentin Peninsula.

"The Ocean of the Future": 3 floors of spectacular multimedia spaces and 17 aquariums dazzling with color and life. *From 5 years old. It is also an important convention center for all types of large events.

Utah Beach and Museum

20km away, the superb World War II and D-Day museum is a great place to explore with your children. Beautiful display cases full of personal belongings and period objects, along with anecdotes and stories. Very moving. We recommend watching the short 15-minute film before starting the tour; it provides a very good account of the landing on Utah Beach, with no scenes that might be shocking for young children. In our opinion, it is one of the most beautiful museums about the landings.
